Controllers

Controllers are the senior financial executive working closely with Executive Directors and Board to ensure financial reporting is accurate, complete and as predictable as possible. We bring business practices, controls and technology expertise to complement the program knowledge of the charities.
We manage the “business” side of the charity. We are hands-on accountants who

  • interpret management reports,
  • plan database integration,
  • prepare budgets,
  • analyze grant reports,
  • liaise with auditors,
  • report to CRA – Charities Directorate.
Controllers have excellent communication skills to work with non-financial executives. Controllers work with a number of charities and will spend 1 to 10 days per month with each entity.

Controllers are designated accountants CPA (CA, CMA, CGA) and have a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience.

Accountants

Accountants maintain the day-to-day records of the charities. They record cash receipts, cash disbursements, payroll, bank reconciliations and project reporting. They report to CHARITYacCOUNTS! Controllers who will review their work, provide problem solving support and direct them in systems and procedures. They work on-site or at the CHARITYacCOUNTS! Oakville office.

Accountants work with a number of charities and will spend anywhere from 2 days to 15 days per month with each entity. Bookkeepers are detail oriented, focused, hard-working accountants able to work independently and know when to ask for direction. They work with all levels of charity staff and value the contribution made by fundraisers and front-line staff. They understand that the accounting staff exists to support the programs offered by the charity. They communicate easily with non-accounting personnel.
